Job summary

Federal Express Corporation is seeking a Switcher/Package Handler to move trailers in the yard, assist with loading and unloading packages, and ensure safe handling at doors. You will document moves, perform equipment inspections, and follow strict safety procedures in a fast-paced environment.

Qualified candidates will hold a valid driver’s license with a DOT file, be able to sort packages by numbers, and operate yard tools.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a DOT file.
• Ability to understand and follow safety instructions.
• Ability to discern numbers for sorting packages correctly.
• Ability to use basic tools and equipment listed above.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Performs trailer switches moving parked trailers between yard and doors.
• Coordinates trailer movements with management or control.
• Documents trailer moves using the Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Performs pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
• Follows yard safety processes and procedures.
• Loads and unloads packages onto/from vehicles and carts.
• Lifts and moves packages for several hours per shift.
