Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is hiring a Dock Worker to move freight between docks and trailers using forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks. You will verify freight documents, secure loads, and assist with loading and unloading while maintaining safety and compliance.

Ideal candidates have basic math and communication skills, the ability to lift heavy items, and prior warehouse or dock experience. This role features early shift hours and a collaborative, safety‑minded team environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling and/or forklift experience preferred.
• If hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, to lift dock plates weighing approximately 100 pounds, and to open trailer doors requiring approximately 75 pounds of lift force, up to several times per day or more.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, pushing/pulling freight throughout shift.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Move freight across dock area to/from trailers using motorized and manual equipment.
• Verify freight documentation matches description (type, weight, hazardous materials).
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws/regulations and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
