Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a dock/jack operator to transport freight across the dock area and assist with loading to trailers. Starting rate of pay is $22.77 per hour, with a 05:00–09:00 shift. The role involves equipment use (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck), documentation verification, and freight securing.

Qualifications include a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 18+ years old. Prior warehousing or hostler experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior warehousing or freight handling experience preferred.
• If hostler/yard mule duties are required, experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, lift dock plates (~100 lbs), and open trailer doors (~75 lbs) repeatedly.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, push/pull freight throughout shift.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading.
• Verify documentation matches freight description using current system.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
