Job summary

FedEx Freight in East Moline, IL is seeking a dock attendant to move freight across the dock and assist with loading to trailers. You will operate equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks, verify freight documents, and help customers with freight needs.

Starting pay is $21.16 per hour, with a potential range to $24.75 per hour. Benefits include health insurance, 401(k), and paid time off; hours may vary and require a fast-paced, team-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling or forklift experience preferred.
• Hostler/yard mule duties experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math independently or with a calculator.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry varying weights and operate dock equipment.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat and push/pull freight throughout shift.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Move freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading.
• Operate motorized and manual equipment (forklift, pallet jack) as needed.
• Verify freight documentation matches description (type, weight, hazmat) using available systems.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps or rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as necessary.
• Complete required documentation and reports accurately.
• Assist customers with freight and documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
