Job summary

Kitsap Community Resources is seeking a Kitchen-Classroom Assistant to support meal prep and delivery for young children, following CACFP guidelines. This in-person role also supports Head Start classrooms at the Park/Elizabeth site.

The position requires high school completion, food service experience, and ability to pass background checks; CPR/First Aid and Food Worker Card are required within specified timelines.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous experience in food service, early learning center, school, or related field preferred.
• Ability to pass State and/or Federal Background Checks prior to hire date.
• TB test upon employment.
• Immunity to MMR or medical/religious exemption on file.
• Initial physical exam within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of meals and snacks according to menus and portion sizes.
• Follow individual classroom nutrition plans and substitutions as needed.
• Serve meals to classrooms and ensure timely delivery of food items.
• Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment per CACFP and health regulations.
• Ensure proper storage of food and supplies per safety guidelines.
• Keep kitchen organized and maintain an orderly workspace.
• Adhere to USDA CACFP guidelines and Head Start standards.
• Maintain accurate kitchen logs.
• Assist in the classroom as needed and support staff.
• Communicate food deliveries and safety concerns to Food Services.
• Attend site team meetings and trainings.
• Accept other duties as assigned.
