Job summary

Fairbanks Native Association in Fairbanks, AK seeks a Kitchen/Classroom Aide to support the Head Start program. Under the supervision of the Site Nutrition Coordinator, you will help with meal prep, delivery to classrooms, and basic kitchen sanitation to meet meal-service timelines.

This full-time role requires a high school diploma or culinary training, one year of institutional cooking experience, and adherence to food safety and CACFP guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or culinary training equivalent.
• One year experience in institutional-style cooking.
• Current Food Handler Card or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Current CPR/First Aid or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to use a computer for time and attendance reporting, data entry.
• Education/experience may substitute for degree requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist with breakfast, lunch, and snack prep for up to 50+ children.
• Deliver food to classrooms using mobile carts and return carts after meals.
• Sanitize dishes and kitchen equipment before and after meals.
• Maintain kitchen and storage areas; weekly deep clean.
• Stock items with labeling including open and expiration dates.
• Prepare snacks and special foods for events; support cultural foods in menus.
• Assist with menu planning and inventory with supervisors and cooks.
• Attend CACFP and other related trainings throughout the year.
• Prepare food and supplies for field trips; assist distribution.
• Adhere to State Licensing regulations and attend meetings.
• Assist in cleaning classrooms and supporting teachers as needed.
