Job summary

Mystic Valley YMCA in Malden, MA seeks an Early Learning Center Director to lead a 70-child program for ages 2.9 to 5. You will oversee daily operations, staff supervision, licensing readiness, and curriculum implementation in a safe, inclusive environment.

The role emphasizes building a developmentally appropriate program, recruiting and coaching staff, ensuring EEC compliance, and partnering with guardians to support children's growth in line with YMCA values.

Qualifications

• Meets educational and experience qualifications established by EEC.
• Director’s License is required.
• CPR, First Aid and AED certifications due within 30 days of hire date.
• Demonstrated ability to recruit and build a strong team.
• Experience working with diverse populations and building positive relationships.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day operation of the Early Learning Center, ensuring a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment.
• Develop, implement and improve an age-appropriate curriculum supporting social-emotional and cognitive development.
• Ensure teachers conduct ongoing observations and assessments to individualize learning.
• Monitor classroom quality through coaching, feedback and direct involvement with children and staff.
• Recruit, hire, onboard, train, schedule, supervise and evaluate teachers and program staff.
• Maintain staffing patterns and ensure compliance with EEC requirements.
• Conduct regular staff meetings and provide ongoing coaching and professional development.
• Maintain EEC records, policies and licensing readiness.
• Follow emergency, health, safety, and incident procedures and ensure staff credentials are up to date.
• Serve as primary contact with EEC and coordinate licensing visits and follow-ups.
