Job summary

The Learning Experience in Worcester, MA is seeking an Assistant Center Director to help lead people, strengthen classroom quality, support families, and keep a busy early childhood center running successfully.

You’ll work alongside the Center Director while taking an active role in staff development, center operations, curriculum quality, enrollment, family relationships, and EEC compliance.

Qualifications

• Must meet applicable Massachusetts EEC requirements for the position.
• Director I and Director II qualifications required.
• Professional experience in a licensed childcare, preschool, or early childhood education program required.
• Previous supervisory, management, or educational leadership experience strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of Massachusetts EEC regulations and early childhood best practices.
• Proven ability to coach, motivate, and hold teams accountable.
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Associate or bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the Center Director with daily center leadership and operations.
• Recruit, onboard, train, coach, and support teaching staff.
• Conduct classroom observations and provide actionable feedback.
• Support staffing schedules and maintain required classroom ratios.
• Ensure consistent implementation of The Learning Experience's LEAP Curriculum.
• Help maintain Massachusetts EEC licensing and compliance standards.
• Build positive relationships with children, families, and employees.
• Participate in tours and support enrollment and retention efforts.
• Assist with family concerns and provide solutions in partnership with center leadership.
• Maintain required operational and employee documentation.
• Support center events, family engagement, and community outreach.
• Serve as a leadership presence throughout the center and step in for the Center Director when needed.
