Job summary

Armed Services YMCA El Paso is seeking a Child Care Assistant to help provide a learning environment at our new development center. Under the supervision of the Child Care Lead Teacher, you will support developmentally appropriate practices, ensure health and safety, and offer resources to families.

Responsibilities include ongoing child assessments, lesson plan implementation, inclusion of children with disabilities, and collaboration with the lead teacher on the ELM curriculum.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Must meet Virginia State licensing requirements for qualifications.
• Must pass Federal, State, and relevant background checks.
• Must pass a pre-employment physical and provide immunization records.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing a learning environment and support developmentally appropriate practices under supervision.
• Participate in ongoing child assessments and help implement lesson plans.
• Support inclusive practices for children with disabilities per IEP/IFSP.
• Assist with daily routines, meals, transitions, and indoor/outdoor activities.
• Collaborate with lead teacher to implement the ELM curriculum and provide opportunities for self-expression.
• Maintain health, safety, and nutritional procedures as outlined.
