Job summary

Pierce County’s Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP) seeks a Preschool Assistant Teacher to support growth and family engagement across our sites in Eatonville, South Hill, Buckley, and University Place. The role emphasizes nurturing learning environments, family partnership, and adherence to program standards.

Responsibilities include aiding in academic activities, guiding children, and supporting food services for part-time roles.

Qualifications

• Washington State Initial Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate or higher; or a DCYF-approved equivalent.
• Alternative pathway: high school diploma or GED with a DCYF PDP to obtain ECE qualifications.
• Background check required prior to employment.
• Pediatric First Aid/CPR and Food Handler’s permit within 90 days of hire.
• TB test or chest x-ray documentation upon hire.
• Measles (MMR) immunization record or exemption.

Responsibilities

• Help Teacher instruct children and parents to optimize development and parenting skills.
• Assist in implementing academic programs, positive behavior guidance, family events, and nutrition plans.
• Help carry out small group activities and routines in line with guidelines.
• Monitor students to ensure a safe and positive learning environment.
