Job summary

About The Kids, Early Intervention Services Inc. seeks an Early Intervention Specialist to design and implement activities for infants and young children, supporting IFSP goals in a flexible, field-based role in Moreno Valley, CA.

You will collaborate with a transdisciplinary team, conduct developmental assessments, and communicate with families. A bachelor's in a related field and CPR training are required; driving and background checks are needed. Evening visits may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a field related to early intervention.
• At least 1 year experience working with infants or young children and families.
• Demonstrate understanding of needs of young children with disabilities or at risk.
• Demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills.
• Must have current Driver’s License, car registration, auto insurance and DMV print out.
• Must have current Infant/Child CPR.
• Submit to and pass a criminal background check.
• Past employee reference check.
• Completion of written and oral basic competencies assessment (during interview).

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing, implementing and adapting activities for language, cognition, motor, sensory, self-help and social-emotional development under IFSP.
• Collaborate with parents to maximize child’s potential.
• Work as a Transdisciplinary team with professionals and represent About The Kids on interagency councils as assigned.
• Schedule and administer developmental assessments and prepare summary reports annually and as needed.
• Communicate with Area Mentor regarding home visitation consistency.
• Communicate all high-risk family situations to Area Mentor.
• Provide parents with weekly recommendations and parenting information.
• Maintain scheduling flexibility for evening appointments as needed.
• Present professionally and maintain confidentiality of all child/family information.
• Document communications and progress on the company server.
• Share child progress with family and Area Mentor; report issues as needed.
• Submit monthly calendars and changes to the Area Mentor and office.
• Attend professional development opportunities; minimum one outside training per year.
