Job summary

SCMCAA's Early Head Start program seeks an EHS T2 to assist the Lead Teacher in delivering developmentally appropriate activities for infants and toddlers in a safe, supportive classroom. The role emphasizes health, nutrition, social and cognitive development, with daily duties aligned to Head Start standards.

Reporting to Education Manager and Transportation Manager, the position requires collaboration, documentation, home visits, screenings, and strong communication with families.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Infant/toddler CDA required.
• Knowledge of curriculum and developmentally appropriate practice.

Responsibilities

• Assist in directing classroom activities and ensure health, safety, and well-being of children.
• Collaborate with staff and assist with daily Head Start center activities.
• Help develop weekly lesson plans and activities to meet children's needs.
• Perform teaching tasks per curriculum and standards.
• Assist with home visits, screenings, assessments, and required documentation.
• Provide communication between staff and parents; relay messages with a positive approach.
• Participate in Head Start trainings and meetings; support emergencies and safety checks.
• Work cooperatively with all Head Start staff and assist with recruiting eligible children.
