Job summary

NEMCSA is seeking an Early Head Start Family Educator in Lincoln, MI to partner with families during crucial years of a child’s development. You’ll perform home visits, support learning at home and in centers, and connect families with health and community resources.

You’ll monitor growth, provide guidance on nutrition, health, and school readiness, and ensure accurate records while upholding confidentiality and standards.

Qualifications

  • Home-based CDA credential or equivalent coursework with 1 year childcare or family-work experience.
  • Associates or (preferred) Bachelors degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid Michigan driver license; CPR and First Aid certificates.
  • Family Service Worker, CDA, Parents as Teachers Educator, or PITC credential preferred or may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging early childhood education and family support in home and center settings.
  • Conduct weekly home visits to support development and strengthen parent-child relationships.
  • Facilitate parent-child activities and family learning opportunities.
  • Provide prenatal education and connect families to community resources.

What You'll Do

As an Early Head Start Family Educator, you'll partner with families during some of the most important years of a child's development. Through home visits, parent-child activities, and family support services, you'll help parents build confidence, strengthen relationships, and support their child's learning and growth from pregnancy through age three.

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver engaging early childhood education and family support services in home and center-based settings.
  • Conduct weekly home visits that support children's development and strengthen parent-child relationships.
  • Facilitate parent-child socialization experiences and family learning opportunities.
  • Support pregnant women and families with prenatal education and access to community resources.
  • Monitor children's growth and development through screenings and ongoing assessments.
  • Provide guidance on child development, parenting, health, nutrition, and school readiness.
  • Connect families with health, social service, and early intervention resources as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records and uphold confidentiality and professional standards.

Requirements

What We’ll Love About You:

  • Minimum of home-based CDA credential or comparable credential, or equivalent coursework as part of an associate's or bachelor's degree and one year experience in childcare or early childhood setting or working with families with young children is required.
  • Associates Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education or related field Bachelors Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education or related field is preferred.
  • Employees in this position must possess reliable transportation, a valid Michigan driver license, and CPR and First Aid Certificates. A Family Service Worker, CDA, Parents as Teachers Educator, or PITC credential is preferred and may be required once hired.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver license are required.
