Job summary

The Salvation Army Southern New England Division is seeking a dedicated Early Learning Center staff member in Hartford, CT to assist the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing a stimulating program for young children. You will help with daily activities, documentation, and parent engagement while upholding program standards.

Requirements include an 18+ age, CDA or equivalent, CPR/First Aid, and KeepSAfe training.

Qualifications

  • Must develop a positive relationship and communicate effectively with young children and their families.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must complete KeepSAfe and all other training requirements upon hire.
  • Must hold a current certificate in CPR and First Aid.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or the equivalent and a CDA.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in all required meetings and trainings.
  • Adhere to classroom procedures with the Lead Teacher.
  • Assist in classroom management and activities for children.
  • Help with attendance, nutrition, lesson plans, health checks, and daily notes.
  • Assist with planning and implementing curricula addressing individual and group needs.
  • Support team-oriented relationships and agency cohesiveness.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule to meet program needs.
  • Ensure professional attire and environment consistent with standards.
  • Monitor and maintain classroom cleanliness and safety.",
  • Observe and record children's progress and assist with reports and goals.
  • Support efforts to meet NAEYC accreditation standards.
  • Understand personnel policies in staff handbooks.
