Job summary

Neighborhood House is seeking an Early Education Assistant Manager in Salt Lake City, Utah. You will coach teachers, support a team of educators in toddler and preschool classrooms, and ensure adherence to licensing standards.

This role includes developing teaching strategies and leading staff training sessions. You will oversee onboarding for new hires, monitor classroom ratios, and conduct regular observations to guide improvement.

Qualifications

  • Must speak, read and write English fluently.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Coach teachers in classrooms and ensure compliance with NAEYC and Licensing regulations.
  • Maintain teacher schedules and onboarding for new hires.
  • Conduct monthly classroom observations and provide coaching based on findings.
  • Develop teaching strategies and training materials for staff.
  • Manage scheduling and time-off requests for pods.
  • Participate in disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Keep up-to-date with licensing rules and changes.

Position: Early Education Assistant Manager

Reports to: Early Education Manager

Term: Full-time, non-exempt

Compensation: $24-27/hr

Position Summary

Do you enjoy creating an environment where children can learn, grow and play? As an Early Education Assistant Manager, you will work alongside your peers to support, encourage, and develop teachers within your specific pod as they provide the daily enrichment in our toddler and preschool classrooms. You'll work to ensure compliance with all licensing rules and regulations and that our teachers receive the support, guidance and training needed.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Be a presence in classrooms to provide coaching, behavioral and teaching support and ensure each classroom is in compliance with NAEYC and Licensing regulations.
  • Ensure classrooms within your pod are always within ratio; develop plans for ratios and communicate those plans to the Early Education Manager.
  • Conduct monthly classroom observations; report observations to Early Education Manager and provide coaching to teachers based on those observations.
  • Maintain and develop a schedule for teaching strategies for all teachers, including new hires.
  • Act as a designated director as assigned.
  • Work together with your team to ensure all new hires are onboarded and receive all required trainings.
  • Conduct regular check ins with new employees to ensure they are receiving the support needed and are on the right trajectory.
  • During professional development days work with Early Ed Manager to create and deliver trainings.
  • Work in the classrooms in a teacher role for set number of hours each week.
  • Responsible for scheduling and time off requests for your classroom pods
  • Work with Early Education Manager to execute any disciplinary action.
  • Follow all licensing rules and regulations and keep abreast of any changes.
Qualifications
  • CDA Certification or Bachelor's in Early Education
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience teaching in early education
  • First-Aid and CPR Certificate
  • Valid Utah Driver's License
  • Obtain a Food Handler's Permit
  • Maintain Confidentiality
  • Pass Child Care Licensing Background Check
  • Pass a drug test
  • Must speak, read and write English Fluently.
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus
