Easterseals NH in Londonderry is hiring an Early Childhood Teacher I to join our new center starting December 2026. You’ll collaborate with Teacher II’s to plan developmentally appropriate lessons and create engaging learning environments for young children.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 18 credits in early childhood education or related coursework from an accredited college or university.
  • 1 year of related experience in an early childhood program; 2 years preferred.
  • Able to meet NH CCLU Lead Teacher requirements (He-C4002).
  • NH Professional Development credential required after 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Lead Teacher II to plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum.
  • Provide an inclusive, developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
  • Perform ongoing observations and developmental evaluations.
  • Lead classroom activities when Lead Teacher II is absent.
  • Communicate with families and maintain professional relationships.
  • Maintain health checks and adhere to NH CCLU and NAEYC standards.
  • Support behavior guidance with developmentally appropriate strategies.

The Early Childhood Teacher I is an active member of the childcare center and partners with Early Childhood Teacher II’s, and other staff, on the academic, and social-emotional growth and development of all children in their care. Teacher I’s will provide a rich environment for learning in which all children are seen for their capability through the construction of a curriculum that aligns with the program goals and standards, as well as those from NH Child Care Licensing Unit (NH CCLU) and NAEYC. This role will also develop and foster professional relationships with families. Responsibilities include:Collaborate with Early Childhood Teacher II’s in the development of daily and weekly planning and implementation of an age-appropriate curriculum (lesson plan) to nurture and stimulate all domains of children’s development in their early education.Be responsive to all children by adapting daily care routines and strategies, balancing the individual and group interests and/or needs of the children.Provide a developmentally appropriate and inclusive classroom environment that reflects the children’s ongoing learning and growth.Perform on-going observations and developmental evaluations while following curriculum implementation that addresses the individual needs of each child.Partner with Early Childhood Teacher II’s on overall classroom management to include, but is not limited to: (a) Continuously plan, evaluate and improve the physical environment in the classroom to create opportunities to meet the changing needs of the developing child. (b) Ensure a safe, developmentally appropriate, and trauma-informed care aligned environments for all children in conjunction with NH Child Care Licensing Unit (NH CCLU) rules and National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Accreditation Standards. (c) Promote and model developmentally appropriate communication, hygiene, behavior, and nutrition. (d) Assist with daily and weekly maintenance, sterilization of materials, or cleaning to operate a clean, safe, and well-equipped classroom. (e) Support children during challenging behaviors using positive guidance, developmentally appropriate redirection, and proactive social-emotional strategies. (f) Take responsibility for appropriate child supervision, circle times, small groups and individual work as needed.Lead classroom activities and management when Early Childhood Teacher II’s are not present in the classroom.Assist in maintaining respectful and supportive individual relationships with parents and prospective parents through effective communication in person, via ProCare messaging, and program outreach materials or newsletters, etc.Demonstrate cultural competency and respect for the child's background by incorporating the cultural, linguistic and familial values and beliefs into the program and lesson plans.Complete daily health checks regarding hygiene, safety, and overall well-being of the children.Actively partner with Early Childhood Teacher II’s and other staff to complete NAEYC portfolios, and ensure classrooms meet NAEYC Accreditation criteria as directed.Support children of varying development using varying appropriate and respectful interventionsAdhere to all NH CCLU, NAEYC, Program, and Agency policies and procedures.Participate in ongoing staff development, in-services, trainings, and additional meetings as requiredQualifications:A minimum of 18 credits in early childhood education or related coursework, awarded by an accredited college or university, with at least 3 credits in child or human growth and development.A minimum of 1 year of related experience working in an early childhood education program required, 2 years of experience preferred.The ability to meet NH Child Care Licensing Unit’s requirements for ‘Lead Teacher’ per NH CCLU He-C4002, required.Obtaining and maintaining New Hampshire Early Childhood Professional Development credential (per NH Licensing Requirements) is required after the first 6 months of employment.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Demonstrated organization and time management skills.Certified in Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED required.Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.Compensation $20 - $24 hourly, based upon experience and education.Sign On Bonus is paid at 3 and 6 months of continued full-time employment - the bonus is subject to all taxes, deductions and voluntary deductions elected.Hours: Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week. The center will be open from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.What’s in it for you?
