Job summary

Acquire4Hire is seeking a full-time Nurture and Nature teacher for immediate hire in a small, close-knit center in Newfields, NH. You will collaborate with the Lead teacher to plan weekly activities and ensure developmentally appropriate practices in a safe, stimulating classroom environment.

You will maintain student progress records, assist with screenings, and support IEP implementation while fostering a positive relationship with families and the community.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Minimum 9 credits in child development, early childhood, or elementary education with at least 3 credits in growth and development.
• Proven ability to relate positively to children, parents and staff.
• Strong knowledge of NH State Licensing Standards and developmentally appropriate practice.

About This Role

Looking for a full time experienced teacher for immediate hire to join our dedicated team of educators in a small, close knit, team oriented, joyful center. A Nurture and Nature teacher must be able and willing to work successfully in a team, coordinating the curriculum, and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. Teachers must understand children's cognitive, social, emotional and physical development in order to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed. Teachers must be skilled in communicating with both children and adults in order to meet the needs of the children, resolve parental concerns and willing to ask questions as needed and provide assistance as needed. Nurture and Nature Children's Center prides itself on being a respectful, happy, well run team where no job is too small and the Director is always available for support and guidance as needed.

What You’ll Do

• Collaborate with Lead teacher to develop weekly plans and activities.
• Responsible for implementing all State Licensing guidelines, performance standards, policies and procedures, regulations in the day-to-day operation of an early childhood development center including developmentally appropriate practices.
• Responsible for assisting with the implementation of developmental, behavioral, and sensory screenings within the schedule mandated by regulations and performance standards.
• Maintain records on each child’s progress and development for the purpose of planning.
• Responsible for assisting with recording of information required to document the growth and development of children.
• Assist Lead Teacher to fully implement an IEP for children with disabilities and inclusion of children with special needs.
• Attend all staff meetings and in-service trainings provided by the center.
• Review with the Lead Teacher the progress of each child and develop written plans to promote each child’s growth and development.
• Help maintain the facility in a safe and satisfactory condition.
• Help provide day-to-day supervision and support to other teachers, substitutes, and volunteers, which include sharing daily program plans and discussing goals for children.
• Work with classroom staff to plan, and implement the daily program of activities based on principles of child development and in accordance with the program’s curriculum.
• Help maintain a well-organized, safe, and attractive classroom environment conducive to the optimal growth and development of children.
• Develop a positive relationship with each child and promote the development of self-esteem and self-discipline.
• Observe each child daily to assess skills, interest, and needs and use this information to facilitate learning and growth.
• Establish a positive and professional relationship with each child’s family and share information about the child’s day at the center.
• Help parents understand the curriculum and try to find ways to involve parents in the daily program.
• Conduct individual parent conferences at least once a year to discuss each child’s growth and development.
• Keep abreast of current knowledge in the field of Early Childhood Education.
• Complete and update personnel file as requested, as well as maintain the annual required professional development hours and remain updated on CPR/FA.
• Follow the dress code appropriately.
• Act as a friendly ambassador for the center and ensure that a positive image of the center is portrayed at all times.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned.
• Serve as a mandated reporter to the Department of Children and Family Services.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Have a minimum of 9 credits in child development, early childhood, or elementary education from a regionally accredited college or university, including at least 3 credits in child growth and development or willing to obtain them upon hire.
• Proven ability to relate positively to young children, parents, and staff.
• Strong working knowledge of NH State Licensing Standards, including monitoring and evaluating.
• Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice and how it applies to each age group.
• Demonstrate success in working as a member of a team.
• Effective and strong communication skills (oral and written).
• Demonstrate an ability to work successfully with community-based agencies and build partnerships.
• Demonstrate supervision skills.
• Must be willing to work flexible hours in order to meet the needs of the program.
• Ability to occasionally assist students with personal hygiene tasks, assist students with injury and/or illness that could result in possible exposure to bodily fluids.
• Be able to lift 25-30 lbs.
• Be able to walk, squat/kneel, sit on floor, see, hear, speak with children to ensure children’s health and safety.
