Job Summary

Job Summary:TheEarly Childhood Teacheris responsible forcreating a safe, nurturing, and developmentallyappropriate learningenvironment for young children. Thispositionincludes developing and implementing lesson plans, leading group activities, and ensuring children are supervised andwellcared for throughout the day.TheEarly Childhood Teacherbuilds positive interactions with children, families, andteam memberswhilemaintaininga supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere. Theyfollowallsafety protocolsand programguidelines, ensuring compliance withlicensingregulationsand accreditationstandards. Through meaningfullearning experiences,the Early Childhood Teacher upholdsthe philosophy and mission ofNCHS.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Child Supervision & Safety

Supervises children, conducts health and safety checks, andmaintainschild-to-staff ratios.

Prioritizes health and safety, responds to emergencies, andmonitorsspecial health and dietary needs.

Follows cleaning and sanitation guidelinestomaintaina safe andhygienicenvironment.

Supports daily care in the classroom, ensuring children’s physical, cognitive, and emotional needs are met (examples:feeding, toileting, comforting).

2. Curriculum& Child Development

Participates in the planning, implementation, and documentation of curriculum andassessments.

Monitorschild development and provides feedback to participantsinfamily conferences.

Buildspositive relationships with children and familiesto foster a supportive learning environment.

Applies developmentallyappropriate behaviormanagementstrategies.

Supports children and families during transitions (examples;enrollment, classroom changes, daily routines).

3. Compliance and Documentation

Maintains compliance with NE DHHS licensing regulations, accreditation standards and NCHSEarly Childhoodpolicies, and procedures.

Completesrequiredannual professional development.

Usescenter resources efficientlyand reports issues with materials and equipment to the director.

Accurately completes daily classroom attendance and meal logs,accident, daily activityreports,and otherrequireddocumentation on timewhileensuring confidentiality.

Supplemental Duties and Responsibilities

Qualifications and Requirements

1. Minimumeducation and experience:

Must be at least 18 years ofage.

Havea high school diploma or GED and 1500 verified clock hours of experience in organized group activities for young children asindicatedby a positive reference from a former employer or supervisor.

2. Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Understandingdevelopmental milestones, early childhood education principles, and best practices to support cognitive, social-emotional, and physical growth.

Familiarwith developmentallyappropriate curriculums, lesson planning, and assessment tools.

Knowledge of positive behavior guidance strategies and conflict resolution techniques.

Awarenessof sanitation/health guidelines for childcareenvironments.

Abilityto build relationships with families, effectively communicate, and support their involvement in their child’s learning.

3. Physical Demand:

The ability tofrequentlycommunicate with NCHS team members and community partnerships.

Able to inspect written communication and respond to directions and hazards.

Able to move equipment weighing up to 35 pounds.

Occasionally ascends/descends stairs in the building.

Able tooperatea computer and other office equipment.

A copy of insurance and registration will berequiredupon hiring.

Requires active engagement, including standing, bending, lifting, and moving around the classroom and outdoor play areas.

Full timeschedulefollows a standard weekday schedule(Monday–Friday),may require early morning, evening, or occasional weekend availability for staff meetings, professional development, or family events.

Consistent attendance:Reliable and punctual attendance is essential tomaintainingstaff-to-child ratios and ensuring a stable learningenvironment.

Work inan early childhood centersetting.

Salary/Wage

$15.73 - $19.19/hourdepending on education and experience

Hours available are Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:30pm
