Job summary

Save the Children US is seeking a Program Aide to support infants, toddlers and preschoolers across Head Start sites in Albemarle, NC. You will assist with classroom activities, kitchen and janitorial tasks, and partner with Teachers to ensure a safe, engaging learning environment.

The position requires a minimum high school diploma or GED, basic first aid/CPR within 90 days, and strong English communication. You may travel between sites and participate in workshops and parent meetings.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Minimum high school diploma or GED.
• Certification as applicable by Head Start/childcare regulations.
• Within 90 days of employment, maintain basic first aid and pediatric CPR.
• Professional proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Able to relate sensitively with children and communicate with staff, parents and families.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom staff with daily activities.
• Support Teacher during events (Family Nights, newsletters, etc.).
• Serve as a temporary substitute when needed.
• Provide custodial, kitchen, and general program support as assigned.
• Maintain safety and confidentiality of children and families.
