Job summary

Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools is seeking a Teacher Assistant/Pre-K Teacher Assistant to help the lead teacher create a structured, welcoming classroom where children explore and learn. You will support instruction, manage routines, and assist with health and safety responsibilities under supervision.

You will collaborate with the teaching team to implement learning experiences, support individualized needs including IEP goals, and facilitate family communication and engagement within CHCCS

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and meet one of the listed credentials/degree options.
• CDA Credential or an Associate Degree in Birth-through Kindergarten, Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or related field.
• Enrolled toward an Associate Degree in an Early Childhood area with EDU 119 completed (minimum 2 courses).
• Teacher Assistants working toward an Associate Degree should make progress (minimum 6 semester hours per year).
• Previous experience working with children is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and implementing classroom learning experiences for individuals and groups as directed by the teacher.
• Guide individual students with curriculum and IEP goals based on their needs.
• Collaborate with teaching team to support all students and develop effective strategies.
• Observe and document students' growth and development as requested by the teacher.
• Provide input and assessment data when needed and support substitute teachers with routines.
