Job summary

Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools is seeking an EC Pre-K Teacher Assistant to support teachers in delivering organized, developmentally appropriate activities in a classroom setting. The role requires collaboration with the teaching team to meet individual student needs and ensure a safe, engaging learning environment.

You will assist with lesson preparation, student supervision, and documentation of progress while supporting family engagement and daily routines in a 10-month school calendar.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and meet one of the listed credentials.
• Hold a CDA credential or an associate degree in an ECE-related field, as described.
• Enrolled toward an Associate Degree with progress of EDU 119 courses (min 6 hrs/yr).
• Previous experience working with children is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in creating a safe, organized classroom where children can explore and learn.
• Support individual students, small groups, and larger groups per teacher directions.
• Document students' growth and assist with behavior management per school policies.
• Collaborate with staff to implement instructional plans and routines.
• Assist with daily health, safety, and classroom maintenance tasks as needed.
• Support transportation, dressing, toileting, and other individual student needs as directed.
• Engage families with progress updates and participate in regular PreK/Head Start meetings.
