Job summary

Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) is seeking a Mentor Coach to provide on-site coaching for Head Start teachers and staff, including classroom observations, feedback, and data analysis to improve teacher-child interactions and school readiness.

The role requires a bachelor’s or higher in Early Childhood Education or related field, with multiple required certifications, plus at least two years of teaching and supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or related field, with at least 18 semester hours in Early Childhood Education
• Certificate of Completion of a 10 hour Developmentally Appropriate Practices for Pre-Schoolers or Infant/Toddlers
• Certificate of Completion of a 30-hour Introductory Child Care Training Course or equivalent
• Certificates totaling 30 hours including 6h Child Growth and Development; 6h Behavioral Observation & Screening; 8h Health, Safety & Nutrition; 4h Identifying and Reporting Child Abuse/Neglect; 6h Child Care Facility Rules
• Certificate of Completion of an approved 10-hour Special Needs Course; Florida Director Credential or eligible; valid Florida Driver License
• Must be 21 years of age

Responsibilities

• Monitors and documents provisions and progressions in Early Childhood Education and School Readiness
• Provides initial and ongoing training and technical assistance to identified Head Start staff regarding program philosophy, policies and curricula
• Develops and evaluates program goals and objectives with supervisors and field staff
• Ensures developmentally and linguistically appropriate approaches in child development and education
• Maintains reliability in CLASS assessment; designs classroom assessment plans for improvement
• Designs and implements staff trainings for continuous improvement in child readiness outcomes
• Provides input on staff performance for evaluations and corrective action
• Coordinates meetings and trainings with ECE Supervisor and Center Directors
• Interprets and applies program policies and regulations
• Submits monthly monitoring reports and work activity to Director of Curriculum & Instruction
