Job summary

Qualifications

• Must meet DHS Child Care Center Rules requirements.
• Preferred experience in early childhood or elementary classrooms.
• Evidence of continued professional development.
• Certified in pediatric CPR and First Aid.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Organized, positive, and energetic.
• Knowledge of early childhood best practices.
• Mobility to ensure children's safety.
• Lift up to 40 pounds.
• Background study clearance.

Responsibilities

• Arrive to work on time.
• Oversee and manage a classroom while maintaining ratios.
• Remain calm while multi-tasking in a busy environment.
• Plan, write, post, and implement developmentally appropriate lessons.
• Establish safe, positive boundaries with children.
• Apply consistent classroom management techniques.
• Maintain a clean, welcoming classroom for children and families.
• Develop professional relationships with parents and co-workers.
• Assess each child's social, emotional, and academic progress twice yearly.
• Conduct two parent/teacher conferences annually.
• Engage with children on the floor, outdoors, and during daily schedules.
• Provide leadership and supervision of an Assistant Teacher/Aide.
• Problem-solve quickly under pressure.
• Maintain documentation of children when needed.
