Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and work under supervision of a teacher per DHS rules.
• Preferred experience in early childhood or elementary setting.
• Maintain continued professional development.
• Certified in pediatric CPR and First Aid.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Committed, positive, energetic, patient.
• Knowledge of early childhood best practices preferred.
• Mobility required to ensure safety of children.
• Background study clearance.

Responsibilities

• Arrive to work on time.
• Assist in supervising and managing a classroom of children while maintaining ratio.
• Follow instructions and work in a support role.
• Support Lead Teacher to ensure a safe and stimulating environment for children.
• Assist Lead Teacher in preparing daily activities.
• Remain flexible and calm while multi-tasking in a busy classroom.
• Establish safe boundaries with children.
• Implement classroom management techniques.
• Maintain a clean, organized classroom for children and families.
• Develop relationships with parents and co-workers.
• Play with children on the floor.
• Supervise outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Adhere to the daily schedule.
• Problem-solve quickly under pressure.
• Assist with activities (art, diaper changing, small groups, potty training, meals, supervision, cleaning, routines).
• Maintain documentation of children as guided.
