Job summary

Sioux Falls School District at R.F. Pettigrew Elementary is seeking an Education Support Professional to assist students in classrooms and on community sites. The role involves 1:1 and small group support, 30-minute lunch, and a 0.7 FTE schedule (28 hours/week).

Starting pay is Level G, $18.42 per hour with an additional $2 per hour differential for Education Support Professional duties. Safety and pre-employment physicals are required.

Qualifications

• Two years of post high school education or higher, or pass a state-approved test for Education Assistant positions.
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities or experience with behavior management.
• Must pass a pre-employment physical.
• Must demonstrate and pass safety competency review on a yearly basis.

Responsibilities

• Assists students in accessing transportation.
• Provides personal care to students with special daily living needs in accordance with safety competencies.
• Reviews and practices skills taught by a teacher with students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Works with students in schools and community sites.
• Prepares instructional materials as directed by the teacher.
• Reinforces instructional/behavioral objectives as directed by the teacher/therapist.
• Maintains student records and progress notes.
• Monitors identified students in lunchroom and on playground.
• Maintains confidentiality of students and families.
• Assists with management of student behavior.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
