Early Childhood Education (ECE) Head Teacher

LEARN, southeastern Connecticut's Regional Educational Service Center, invites qualified candidates to apply for a full-time Early Childhood Education (ECE) Head Teacher position at Creating Connections in Waterford, Connecticut. Responsibilities

The ECE Head Teacher will plan, coordinate, and implement programs supporting the development of children aged eight weeks to three years, ensuring compliance with Center policies, Connecticut Office of Early Childhood Education regulations, NAEYC Accreditation Standards, and the NAEYC Code of Ethics.

Reporting Structure

The Head Teacher reports to and is evaluated by the Early Childhood Education Site Coordinator.

Key Duties

• Program Development: Design and evaluate age-appropriate activities aligned with NAEYC standards and Center policies.
• Staff Supervision: Supervise and mentor teachers, staff, and volunteers, providing feedback for performance evaluations.
• Compliance and Safety: Ensure classroom and program compliance with licensing, safety, and health regulations, including CDC guidelines.
• Parent Engagement: Foster communication through regular discussions, reports, and conferences.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate documentation in line with policies and regulations.
• Team Collaboration: Conduct weekly meetings and collaborate with the Site Coordinator.
• Professional Development: Pursue ongoing training, attending at least 21 hours of workshops annually.
• Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• Current ECE certification or equivalent, with a bachelor’s degree in ECE or related field.
• Infant/child CPR and First Aid certifications, plus Medication Administration and Epi-Pen certification.
• 3-5 years of childcare experience.
• Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and pass background and health screenings.
• Minimum age of 18 years.

This is a full-time position with a seniority level classified as Mid-Senior level. The industry focus is Education and Training within Education Administration Programs. The salary range is approximately $44,323 to $95,052, depending on experience and qualifications.
