Position Overview

Under supervision, the role involves serving as a family advocate, connecting families with health and social services, promoting parent involvement, and developing community partnerships. Responsibilities include assisting with preschool activities, supervising children, maintaining records, and participating in staff meetings and training.

Essential Duties
  1. Assist with developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
  2. Support positive interpersonal relationships among children and staff.
  3. Observe and record children's developmental progress.
  4. Supervise indoor and outdoor activities.
  5. Help shape positive behaviors using appropriate strategies.
  6. Prepare instructional materials.
  7. Maintain confidential records.
  8. Operate necessary equipment.
  9. Model positive behavior.
  10. Attend staff meetings and training.
  11. Assist with limited English communication if needed.
  12. Administer first aid and seek assistance for injuries or illnesses.
  13. Maintain an organized and positive learning environment.
  14. Participate in parent conferences and progress reports.
Qualifications

Knowledge of child development, behavior management, and record management. Ability to communicate effectively, perform clerical tasks, and establish cooperative relationships.

Physical Demands

Ability to exert 20-40 pounds of force, sit, stand, walk, and handle materials. Reasonable accommodations available for disabilities.

Experience and Education

One year of experience with preschool children preferred. Education includes an AA Degree in Child Development, 24 units in ECE, or equivalent. Certification as required, including a copy of transcripts, letters of introduction and recommendation, resume, and TB screening.

Additional Information

Bilingual skills are preferred. Employment is full-time at entry level in the Education and Training industry within Education Administration Programs.
