Job Description

Under the supervision of the Coordinator, this role serves as a family advocate, connecting families with local and countywide health and social services. The position promotes parent involvement, assists in developing family and community partnerships, and provides ongoing guidance and tracking of overall progress, along with other related duties as required.

Essential Duties
  1. Assist with planning and implementing developmentally appropriate learning experiences for preschool children.
  2. Help children develop positive interpersonal relationships.
  3. Observe and record children’s developmental progress.
  4. Supervise and interact with children during indoor/outdoor activities.
  5. Shape positive student behaviors using appropriate strategies.
  6. Prepare instructional materials for small groups.
  7. Maintain records, including confidential student information.
  8. Operate necessary equipment and machines.
  9. Act as a positive role model.
  10. Attend staff meetings and training sessions.
  11. Assist with limited English language communication if needed.
  12. Administer routine first aid and seek assistance for injuries or illnesses.
  13. Maintain an organized, attractive, and positive learning environment.
  14. Participate in parent conferences and progress reporting activities.
  15. Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications

Knowledge of: Child development, behavior management, effective communication, record management.

Ability to: Understand and engage with children, communicate effectively, maintain records, work cooperatively with others.

Physical Demands

Must be able to exert 20-40 pounds of force frequently, sit for extended periods, and perform activities such as walking and standing. Perception of sound, visual acuity, manual dexterity, and handling materials are essential. Reasonable accommodations can be made for disabilities.

Experience and Education

Experience: At least one year working with preschool children (paid or volunteer).
