Head Start or Early Head Start Teacher I, II, & III (Education)
Definition: As a part of the ATCAA team, Teachers assist the Lead Center Teacher in planning and implementing a comprehensive State Preschool/Head Start/Early Head Start program. This includes supervising and interacting with young children in preschool and/or infant-toddler classrooms, collaborating with staff to support parents as primary teachers, and ensuring the delivery of services to children and families in a coordinated manner.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and teach small groups of children.
- Teacher II and III are responsible for screening, assessment, observation, and curriculum planning for their assigned groups.
- Oversee the classroom in the absence of the Lead Center Teacher/Site Supervisor.
- Implement the agency's approved education curriculum according to Head Start standards, California State Preschool, and Licensing Requirements.
- Assist with curriculum planning and create individualized learning plans.
- Ensure compliance with center operations policies, health, safety, and licensing requirements.
- Maintain a safe environment, implementing active supervision at all times.
- Develop and follow a schedule aligned with standards and best practices.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings for children with disabilities and implement IEP or IFSP goals.
- Assist with daily classroom and playground maintenance and cleanup.
- Support meal preparation, serving, and cleanup.
- Supervise volunteers and substitutes to ensure safety practices.
- Conduct home visits and parent/teacher conferences, documenting outcomes.
- Engage families through activities, celebrations, and support for parent goals.
- Supervise, train, evaluate, and support assigned staff.
- Attend staff meetings, trainings, and parent meetings.
- Assist with documentation and substitute as needed.
General Duties:
All employees are expected to:

- Report safety issues and perform other tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Teacher I: 24 units of ECE/CD, including 6 units on infants/toddlers, with a plan to obtain an AA degree, and a current education plan.
- Teacher II: Current Teacher Permit, A.A./A.S. in ECE/CD or related field, working toward B.S./B.A., with at least 3 units on infants/toddlers.
- Teacher III: Same as Teacher II but with a B.A./B.S. and at least 24 units in ECE/CD, including infant/toddler units.
- Pass a background check, proficiency in standard software, and meet health and licensing requirements.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in Early Head Start/Head Start or State Preschool.
- Spanish language skills.
- Experience supervising adults and knowledge of community resources.
Physical and Other Requirements:
Frequent walking, standing, bending, squatting, twisting; occasional sitting, climbing, kneeling, crawling; exposure to outdoor elements, bio-hazards, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
