United States Coast Guard Community Services Command in Alameda, CA is seeking a full-time Child Care Assistant to support the Child Development Center. You will implement age-appropriate activities, monitor safety, and assist in daily program operations.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, English proficiency, and at least one year of child care experience. The position offers full-time hours (30-40 per week) with comprehensive Coast Guard benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must read, write and speak English.
• One year of general experience with children.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 45 pounds and work indoors/outdoors.
• Pass Tier 1 background investigation and renew every 5 years.
• Complete Civilian Medical Clearance every two years for childcare positions.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver age-appropriate early childhood education activities.
• Collaborate with the director and teachers on curriculum development.
• Supervise and ensure safety in classrooms, playgrounds, and transit areas.
• Maintain required daily reports and participation data.
• Assist with meals and snack arrangements.
• Other duties as assigned.
