Job summary

Coast Guard Exchange in San Juan, PR seeks a Child Care Assistant INT 6925 to support the Child Development Center. Position includes planning developmentally appropriate activities, supervising children, and coordinating with staff and parents.

Intermittent work schedule (0-19 hours/week) with a pay rate of $16.50 per hour. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, English fluency, and prior experience with children; background checks and medical clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write and speak in English.
• One year of general experience working with children.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 45 pounds and perform physical tasks.
• Tier 1 background investigation and renewal every 5 years.
• Civilian Medical Clearance every two years for childcare positions.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute early childhood education experiences with diverse materials.
• Assist in developing and implementing age-appropriate curriculum and activities.
• Maintain safe and organized indoor/outdoor spaces and supervise children at all times.
• Interact professionally with staff, parents, and the command; complete daily reports.
