Job summary

The Coast Guard Exchange is seeking a Child Care Assistant at the Petaluma, CA Child Development Center to support early childhood programs and daily activities. You will work with the director and teachers to implement age-appropriate curricula and promote positive development in every child.

You will supervise children across indoor/outdoor spaces, assist with meals and snacks, maintain daily reports, and communicate professionally with families and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED certificate.
• Must be able to read, write and speak in English.
• One year of general experience working with children.
• Possess and maintain the physical ability to lift and carry up to 45 pounds.
• Ability to satisfactorily complete Tier 1 background investigation.
• Ability to satisfactorily pass the Civilian Medical Clearance Examination every two years.

Responsibilities

• Plans and executes appropriate early childhood education experiences with a variety of material to promote development.
• Develops and implements age-appropriate curriculum and activities with the director and teachers.
• Maintains environment that promotes positive child interactions with others.
• Assists in providing and leading planned activities for program participants.
• Interacts with children and youth using approved development techniques.
• Maintains safety and supervision in all areas and completes required reports.
• Assists with meals, snacks, and preparing activity spaces and materials.
• Communicates professionally with staff, parents, and the command.
