Job summary

Jefferson Parish Government’s Head Start program seeks an assistant to support planning and implementation of daily activities for preschoolers. You will supervise children, assess progress, lead learning activities, prepare spaces for meals and rest, and help with home visits and record-keeping.

When needed, you may assume responsibilities of the lead teacher. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma with CDA certification and an associate degree with ECE coursework, or higher, from

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with CDA certification.
• An Associate's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education.
• An Associate's degree or higher with at least 18 ECE credit hours.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Start Teacher in planning and implementing the daily program for preschoolers.
• Supervise children and assess their progress, performing teaching activities as needed.
• Prepare rooms for meals and rest periods, visit participants' homes, and maintain related records.
• Assume responsibilities of the teacher when necessary.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent + CDA certification

Associate's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education
