Job summary

The Learning Experience – Byron Center is seeking an dependable Assistant Teacher to support classrooms serving infants through preschool-aged children. You will help create a safe, engaging learning environment and support daily routines alongside Lead Teachers.

Ideal candidates enjoy working with young children and thrive in a collaborative early childhood education team. This full-time role offers a Monday–Friday schedule and opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior childcare experience preferred.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Reliable, patient, and nurturing approach to working with children.
• Must meet Michigan childcare licensing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily classroom routines and learning activities
• Support developmentally appropriate experiences for children across age groups
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment
• Guide children through transitions including meals, rest time, and learning centers
• Prepare classroom materials and support group activities
• Encourage positive social interaction and classroom participation
• Communicate professionally with families and teaching team members
• Follow Michigan childcare licensing requirements and center policies
