Position Summary

The Assistant Lead Infant-Toddler Teacher works as a member of the Infant-Toddler Room teaching team alongside an Associate Lead Teacher. The role involves collaborating with other classroom teachers to plan and support the implementation of a model infant program. The Assistant Lead Teacher also serves as a role model for classroom aides and practicum students, demonstrating appropriate skills and techniques by example.

Minimum Qualifications from Classification
  • A minimum of twenty semester hours (thirty quarter hours) of college courses in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Special Education; OR
  • A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential; OR
  • One year of full-time experience in a certified day care center or comparable child care program.
Additional Minimum Qualifications for this Position
  • AA Degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent.
  • One full year of continuous teaching experience with infants and toddlers in an early childhood center.
Teachers Must:
  • Maintain continuous enrollment in the Office of Child Care Central Background Registry;
  • Be current with Infant-Child First Aid / CPR;
  • Have a current Oregon Food Handler’s card;
  • Be trained in and knowledgeable about state laws regarding reporting suspected child abuse.
Preferred Qualifications
  • BA or BA in progress in ECE, Child Development, Child, Youth and Family Studies (strongly preferred).
  • Knowledge and experience with RIE and Reggio-inspired teaching practices.
  • Ability to create an environment that acknowledges, encourages, and celebrates differences.
  • Effective and respectful communication within diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Willingness to work and collaborate in diverse, multicultural, and inclusive settings, with openness to continual improvement.
  • Adherence to PSU policies, including policies on Prohibited Discrimination & Harassment and Professional Standards of Conduct.
Environmental Stewardship

Contributes to a culture of environmental stewardship, practices resource conservation, and actively works toward sustainability goals.

Work Days / Hours

Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week, schedule to be determined

Total Compensation Range & Benefits

The starting salary rate for this position will be between $ and $ per hour. The salary may be negotiable based on experience, skills, department budget, and HR approval.
