Early Childhood Assistant – Summer Camp 2025

Waldorf School of Princeton

The Waldorf School of Princeton is seeking caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Early Childhood Assistants to join our 2025 Summer Camp team. Rooted in Waldorf principles, our camp provides a nurturing, nature-based environment where young children (ages 2–6) engage in a gentle rhythm through the summer season. We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds and are especially interested in candidates who reflect the rich cultural makeup of our student community.

Position Details

Schedule: June 23 – August 15, 2025 (no camp on July 4)

Hours: Part-time, Monday–Friday (exact hours vary by class assignment)

Compensation: $20/hour

Background Check: Successful completion required

Key Responsibilities

Early Childhood Assistants help create a calm, nurturing, and engaging camp experience by supporting the rhythm and direction of the lead teacher. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Supporting classroom activities including play, creative projects, circle time, shared meals, and rest
• Supervising children during outdoor play and walks across our 20-acre campus, which includes a biodynamic garden, nearby CSA farm, woods, and a creek
• Helping with practical tasks such as preparing snacks, setting up nap areas, and maintaining a clean and welcoming classroom environment
• Modeling gentle, respectful behavior and using redirection instead of direct commands—often through song and rhythmic cues
• Being present and engaged with campers
• Attending orientation sessions and supporting camp transitions and routines as needed

Ideal Candidates Will Possess:

• Experience working with children ages 2–6 (preferred, not required)
• A willingness to learn Waldorf education methods through guidance and support
• Comfort being outdoors
• A calm, collaborative, and observant nature with a desire to contribute to an inclusive and respectful camp community
