Job summary

VOALA is hiring a Co-Teacher for Head Start/Early Head Start programs in the Los Angeles area. You will create a nurturing classroom that supports social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development across ages 0–5 and work with families to build strong home learning routines.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED and 24 CD units in ECE/CD; AA in ECE/CD and a Teacher Permit are preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus; expect occasional lifting and fingerprinting as part

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance, background check.
• TB clearance within 6 months' prior
• Annual Influenza vaccination (Nov 1 – Mar 31)
• Pertussis (whooping cough) and measles immunization
• Health screening at the time of employment
• Requires ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• High School Diploma/GED
• 24 CD units in Early Child Education/Child Development
• AA in ECE/CD with 24 units including 6 infant/toddler units for EHS
• Associate Teacher Child Development Permit or higher
• 1 year of teaching experience
• Creative curriculum and bilingual English/Spanish preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide a planned program of activities to support and enhance parents as primary educators.
• Provide a curriculum for morning and afternoon classes (double sessions).
• Integrate HS services into learning (parent involvement, social services, nutrition, health).
• Conduct daily classroom planning and maintain children’s records.
• Observe, screen and assess children’s developmental levels and set goals.
• Maintain a learning environment reflecting diverse backgrounds.
• Adhere to state/local licensing and health/safety requirements.
• Other duties as assigned.
