Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles is seeking a Co-Teacher to support Head Start and Early Head Start classrooms. You will create a nurturing learning environment with varied activities, aligned to developmental goals, to help children grow socially, emotionally, intellectually and physically.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, 24 CD units, and experience with young children; bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• Fingerprint clearance and background check required
• TB clearance within 6 months prior
• Influenza vaccination between Nov 1 and Mar 31
• Pertussis and measles immunization
• Health screening at time of employment
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and mobility requirements

Responsibilities

• Plans and implements the program curriculum for morning and afternoon classes
• Conducts classroom planning and integrates Head Start services
• Observes and assesses children’s developmental levels
• Provides a planned program of activities supporting parents as educators
• Maintains records and submits monthly paperwork
• Ensures health and safety in the learning environment
• Other duties as required to fulfill program mission
