Job summary

VOALA is seeking a Co-Teacher for Head Start/Early Head Start programs in Los Angeles to provide developmentally appropriate activities for children aged 2–3, fostering social, emotional, and physical growth.

The role emphasizes collaboration with a Family Advocate, curriculum implementation for double sessions, and integrating health, nutrition, and mental health services into learning. On-site daily work is required.

Qualifications

• 6 units of infant/toddler (At least 3 semester units are required at hire and any additional units for a total of 6 units are required within 1 year of hire)
• AA in Early Child Education/Child Development with 24 units in CD OR AA in related field with 24 CD units
• Experience working with children.
• Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.
• Head Start performance standards and licensing regulations

Responsibilities

• Provide children with an environment that supports social, emotional, intellectual and physical development to build social competence.
• Plan and implement the program curriculum for morning and afternoon classes (double sessions).
• Integrate Head Start services into learning (parent involvement, social services, nutrition, health, mental health).
• Conduct daily classroom planning and maintain records in partnership with the Family Advocate.
• Observe and assess children's developmental levels and set individualized goals.
• Provide a learning environment reflecting diverse backgrounds and families.
• Ensure safety and licensing compliance in the classroom.
• Other duties as assigned to fulfill program mission.
