Job summary

CPCD seeks an Apprentice Teacher Assistant in Colorado Springs to support early childhood education efforts. The role is part of the Early Educator Apprenticeship Program with ongoing on-the-job learning and classroom practice.

Compensation follows a step-based wage system, starting at $17.59/hour and increasing with credentials and qualifications. Comprehensive benefits and tuition assistance are part of eligible employment, with pre-employment screenings required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CDA or Level II credential required or willing to obtain within two years.
• Must obtain First Aid, CPR, and medication administration certification within 90 days.
• Must lift/carry up to 40 pounds.
• Background check and post-offer screenings required.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher in establishing and implementing safe, healthy, high quality learning experiences.
• Support a balance of group and individualized activities to promote school readiness.
• Adhere to Head Start Performance Standards and licensing requirements.
• Participate in planning and execution of the classroom schedule.
