Job summary

Johnson County Park & Recreation District is seeking a capable leader to substitute in its Before/After School Care and Early Childhood Education programs. You will supervise children daily, procure supplies within budget, and ensure KDHE standards are met while delivering engaging lessons.

Requires strong communication, leadership and organizational skills; you will interact with families and staff, observe guidelines, and complete 15 hours of annual off‑site in‑service to stay current with

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; some college coursework in education or recreation preferred.
• Minimum 15 credit hours in Education Recreation or Early Childhood Education.
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Physical Education, Administration of Parks and Recreation, Early Childhood, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily care and supervision of children in before/after school and early childhood settings.
• Purchase program supplies, equipment, and food within budget.
• Ensure health, welfare, and well‑being of each child; enforce KDHE requirements.
• Deliver daily lessons and observe all guidelines and procedures.
• Communicate effectively with children, parents, staff, and administration; participate in 15 hours of off‑site in‑service annually.
