Qualifications

• Meet the requirements of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment for a child care staff.
• One year teaching experience in licensed centers or preschools, or one year of supervised practicum in licensed centers or preschools.
• Three months teaching experience in licensed centers or preschools, or one year of supervised practicum in licensed centers or preschools.
• A child development associate credential.
• Experience working within a child care setting.
• Demonstrated knowledge of methods of effective instruction.
• Desire and ability to work with children and staff.
• Ability to communicate with parents.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and supports classroom activities on a daily basis.
• Collaborates with lead teacher on curriculum materials and resources.
• Implements a developmentally appropriate program across cognitive and social-emotional areas.
• Ensures compliance with state regulations for child care.
• Maintains a cooperative professional relationship with stakeholders.
• Safeguards child safety and supports the Child Care Director.
• Creates an inviting environment that promotes growth and learning.
• Performs basic classroom management tasks.
• Reports needs to the lead teacher.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
