Job summary

Rivian is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to shape exterior vehicle components for its electric platforms in California. You will design, develop, and release exterior fascia assemblies, FEMs, and color exterior trim, translating design intent into manufacturable parts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 1–2 design internship experiences or similar professional roles preferred.
• Skilled in CATIA v5/v6 or similar CAD software.
• Hands-on design-through-manufacturing experience through coursework or projects.
• Proficiency in generating 3D geometry and sectional data.
• Experience or involvement in process improvement initiatives.
• Strong analytical thinking and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and release exterior components including fascia assemblies and FEM.
• Explore manufacturing processes such as injection and 2-shot molding, over-molding, and related DFx concepts.
• Collaborate with studio teams to produce high-quality A-surfaces meeting DFMA requirements.
• Apply first-principles design to optimize for overall product performance.
• Communicate effectively across cross-functional groups handling multiple parts and processes.
