Job summary

Rincon Consultants, Inc. is hiring an Entry-Level Community Planner in California to gain hands-on experience in community planning, housing, land use, and CEQA compliance.

You will support General Plans, Housing Elements, zoning updates, public engagement, and environmental analyses while collaborating with experienced planners across California, with a hybrid work setup in office and remote settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Environmental Studies, or related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to contribute to technical documents.
• Collaborative mindset and eagerness to learn from multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple deadlines.
• Interest in land use planning, housing policy, and CEQA processes.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint; GIS familiarity is a plus.
• Willingness to travel locally for project needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist with General Plans, Community Plans, Housing Elements, and other planning documents.
• Support zoning code development, permitting policies, and housing‑oriented standards.
• Conduct research and data analysis on land use, housing, and transportation.
• Collaborate with clients, agencies, and teams to meet project goals.
• Assist CEQA documents and environmental impact analyses.
• Help organize public meetings, workshops, and stakeholder engagement.
• Review plans for consistency with local codes and policies.
• Track assignments and timelines; support budget monitoring.
• Conduct site visits to gather information for planning.
• Support project managers with research and analysis as needed.
