Job summary

Rincon Consultants seeks an Entry-Level Community Planner to support General Plans, Housing Elements, and land use analyses across California. You will work with experienced planners on CEQA collaborations and public engagement, gaining hands-on experience in environmental planning.

The role offers a hybrid work setup with opportunities to collaborate in offices near Santa Barbara or Ventura, and requires a Bachelor's in a related field with strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in urban planning, geography, environmental studies, or related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical documents and presentations.
• Collaborative mindset and eagerness to learn from multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Interest in land use planning, housing policy, CEQA, and environmental compliance.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing General Plans, Community Plans, Housing Elements, and other planning documents under experienced guidance.
• Support updating zoning codes, permitting policies, and development standards, focusing on housing and community development.
• Conduct research and data analysis to inform land use, housing, transportation, and community development recommendations.
• Collaborate with clients, agencies, and teams to align with local policies and regulations.
• Assist with CEQA documents and environmental impact analyses for planning projects.
• Coordinate and facilitate public meetings, workshops, and stakeholder input sessions.
• Review project plans for consistency with local codes and policies; track assignments and deadlines.
• Conduct site visits to gather information and support planning efforts.
