Responsibilities

Manage your assigned underwriting territory in Florida to achieve profitable growth. This includes underwriting new business, renewals, endorsements, and other transactions. Identify new opportunities and maintain strong agency relationships.

• Develop and educate agents within the agency network to maximize opportunities and profitability.
• Conduct outbound calls to identify sales opportunities and gather agent intelligence.
• Meet targets for new business premium, renewal retention, and rate adjustments.
• Evaluate risk acceptability, terms, conditions, and pricing within your authority.
• Make sound risk and pricing decisions to maintain profitable loss ratios.
• Maintain an underwriting quality score of 90% or higher; document files properly.
• Achieve customer service standards for quotes, endorsements, cancellations, audits, and policy issuance.
• Ensure policies are delivered according to quoted terms and conditions.
• Review mid-term endorsements and premium audit referrals for appropriateness.
• Order inspections and take action on unacceptable risks.
• Assist in training and mentoring team members.
• Determine the need for facultative reinsurance and handle related procedures.
• Utilize underwriting tools for risk assessment, exposure classification, and rating.
• Support colleagues as needed during absences or travel.

Qualifications

• Proven success in commercial lines property and casualty insurance.
• Minimum of 5+ years of commercial lines underwriting experience, E&S experience preferred.
• Experience working with independent agents and surplus lines is highly desirable.
• Proficiency with Windows-based programs such as Word, Excel, and Email.
• Experience with online underwriting tools (e.g., SAGE, Silver Plume, Reference Connect) is preferred.
• Ability to travel within your territory up to 50%.
