Job summary

Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia is seeking a Material Handler E Recycling in Hampton to transfer merchandise, carts and trash to holding areas and appropriate departments, supporting recycling processes and safety procedures.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, no prior experience is required, and candidates must pass a criminal background check. Evening/weekend availability and reliable teamwork are valued in this position.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• No previous experience required.
• No professional certifications are required for this position.
• The associate is not required to drive as part of their job duties.
• The associate in this position will be required to successfully pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Sort donated goods and other materials into the proper material handling equipment.
• Safely and efficiently use equipment to transport donated goods to the appropriate areas.
• Assist with pricing and displaying merchandise when required.
• Safely, efficiently, and accurately load trucks and trailers when required.
• Follow proper procedures for waste disposal, safely using equipment such as crushers, compactors and lot sweepers.
• Responsible for general housekeeping of assigned areas.
• Provide outstanding customer service to internal and external customers.
• Adhere to all recycling procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor, filling in for other positions when necessary.
