Job description

Location: City of Industry, California

Position: E&I Technician

Pay: $28.26 - $37.84/hr – depending on experience/knowledge

Shift: Day shift

While reporting to the Plant Engineer, the E&I Technician is responsible for the connection of wires to circuit breakers, transformers and other components. Responsible for observing and following all safety regulations with required PPE.

What you'll be doing:

  • Ensure the integrity and reliability of the plant’s electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems.
  • Advanced level of installation, diagnosis, continued calibration, documentation, maintenance and repair of all electrical, instrumentation and control systems.
  • Ability to assemble, install, test and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, and fixtures in accordance with current NEC.
  • Maintain electrical equipment to meet regulatory codes of NEC, OSHA, and CalOSHA policy.
  • Perform rigging activities, safety-related function and other miscellaneous electrical functions.
  • Demonstrate safe and proficient use of shop tools (both hand and power).
  • Familiar with preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and corrective maintenance functions as related to electrical equipment.
  • Demonstrate mechanical knowledge.
  • Understanding and troubleshooting of VFD’s.
  • Paper mill and boiler DCS / QCS computers and control systems.
  • Paper mill and boiler instrumentation. This includes flow, level, temperature, pressure transmitters and control elements (valves, actuators, etc.) on steam, condensate, pulp, water, etc.
  • Must demonstrate ability to safely utilize forklifts, boom lifts, and scissor lifts.
  • Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot PLC’s, including reading of ladder diagrams and electrical prints.
  • Must be physically capable of performing work from ladders, scaffolding, and roof to install, maintain, or repair electrical equipment.
  • Proficient in testing systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters and voltmeters.
  • Familiar with lighting fixtures and lighting systems.
  • Discipline to fill out work order documentation and participate in post failure analysis.
  • Perform duties in a work environment that will be hot, cold, dirty, and fast paced.
  • General support of the Maintenance department as required, such as assisting with troubleshooting, call-ins, unscheduled overtime, 12-hour shifts, scheduled and emergency repairs, shutdown and outage work, projects, etc. Must be able to work after hour during equipment downtime.
