What will you do as an HR Technician?

You serve as the gateway for data entering the HR system. Your daily responsibilities are critical to all areas of Human Resources and employees within Wake County Government!

Daily responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure critical data entering the HR system is correct, accurate, ‘clean’, and consistent
  • Be the troubleshooter, assisting County partners with processing and data entry questions
  • Confirm and process data for a high volume of personnel actions including, but not limited to, new hires, transfers, promotions, pay changes, and separations
  • Communicate and share information and documentation with appropriate partners
  • Create and maintain personnel files
  • Complete Form I-9 verification through E-Verify system
  • Support and collaborate with teams across HR and the County to refine current processes, create new and innovative ways of doing business, and overall, strive to make Wake great!

*For positions with a remote work option, all Wake County Government remote workers must reside in one of the following states: North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, or Virginia.

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two years of experience in human resources administration
  • Equivalent education and experience are accepted
  • Please include ALL prior work experience on your application and resume.
Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)
  • The ability to enter electronic data in multiple systems/documents in a timely manner
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Experience evaluating Form I-9 and verifying in E-Verify system
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, and Word)
  • Experience with applicant tracking systems and HRIS systems
  • Understanding of general human resources policies and procedures

Hiring Range: 23.20 - 28.42

Market Range: 23.20 - 33.63
