Hood Container Corporation is seeking an E&I Maintenance Technician in St. Francisville, LA. You will perform preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on electrical and process-control systems to support pulp and paper mill operations.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating equipment, interpreting schematics, and documenting in CMMS. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of industrial E&I experience with knowledge of 480V/4160V systems and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years of industrial electrical and instrumentation experience.
• Strong knowledge of 480V and 4160V electrical systems and motor controls.
• Experience with PLCs, DCS, and process instrumentation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on electrical and instrumentation systems.
• Troubleshoot, repair, install, calibrate, and maintain equipment (motors, MCCs, switchgear, PLCs, DCS, sensors).
• Interpret schematics, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and manuals; document work in CMMS.
• Coordinate with production, maintenance, and engineering; assist handovers.

Position Title: E&I Maintenance Technician

Department: Electrical Maintenance

Job Summary

The Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Maintenance Technician is responsible for safely performing preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on the electrical and process-control systems that support reliable pulp and paper mill operations. This position troubleshoots, repairs, installs, calibrates, and maintains equipment such as motors, variable-frequency drives, motor control centers, switchgear, PLCs, DCS systems, flow meters, pressure sensors, control valves, and other industrial instrumentation.

The E&I Technician responds promptly to equipment breakdowns, identifies root causes, and completes effective repairs to minimize downtime and restore production safely. Responsibilities also include interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and technical manuals; documenting completed work in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS); and providing clear updates during shift handovers.

This role works closely with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to coordinate repairs and planned maintenance activities. The ideal candidate has at least three years of industrial electrical and instrumentation experience, preferably in a pulp or paper mill, with strong knowledge of 480V and 4160V electrical systems, motor controls, PLCs, DCS controls, and process instrumentation.

A strong commitment to workplace safety is essential, including compliance with Lockout/Tagout, arc-flash, confined-space, and PPE requirements. Candidates must be able to work in an industrial environment with noise, dust, temperature changes, climbing, lifting, and confined spaces. Rotating shifts—including nights, weekends, and holidays—may be required. Successful completion of the company’s entry assessment, written E&I test, and hands-on skills test is required.
